Release notes for MX2 standalone matrix switcher family

v1.8.1b7
Release date: 2022-03-09
New feature:
  • From this version on, the MX2-48x48-DH-48DPi-A-R matrix variant is also supported.
  • From this version on, the MX2-8x8-DH-4DPio-A matrix variant is also supported.
  • Bugfix:
  • Fixed a bug that caused one of the analog audio channels to be set to very low volume.
  • Fixed a bug that resulted in erroneous report of failed update by the LDU2.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the +5V to be turned off on an HDMI output after rebooting the matrix.
  • Improved the reliability of the video port processors on the output.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the bigger MX2 standalone matrices to erroneously report that booting failed after a factory reset.
  • Known issue:
  • Occasionally, for deep color signals, wrong resolution is detected on the output.
  • Occasionally, the output frame rate is not detected correctly.
  • The port selector and the corresponding Mute and Lock buttons for the last input of the matrix switcher is missing from the crosspoint view of the embedded web. These widgets are present in the standalone LDC application.
  • The DisplayPort input of the matrix switcher might occasionally get stuck. In such cases, the input signal is not forwarded to the output.
  • All audio formats, including the compressed ones, are deembedded to the analog audio output on the output side of the matrix.
  • It might happen that even though the HDCP is not enabled on a DP input of the matrix (HdcpVersion = 0), the source sends HDCP encrypted content.
  • Any change in the HDCP level on the input by the source which is not accompanied by a change in the +5V signal is not recognized by the matrix switcher.
  • Changing the audio source from HDMI to ANALOG on the input results in approximately 1 second of noise on the output before the audio is stabilized.
  • Invalid signal type or TMDS error rate is reported by the matrix for the version v1x input and output modules, respectively, if they do not pass video signal.
  • The audio mode setting on the DP output of the matrix is seemingly preserved over a power cycle. However, after the matrix is restarted, the audio will always be output on the DP and on the corresponding analog output (if any) regardless of the settings. Toggling the setting will enforce correct operation.
  • v1.7.0b17
    Release date: 2021-01-26
    New feature:
  • From this version on, product variant with 16 HDMI input ports and 8 HDMI output ports (MX2-16x8-HDMI20-Audio-R) is also supported.
  • From this version on, DisplayID is supported by the matrix and is passed on to the video source through the EDID. With the help of DisplayID, exotic dimensions (e.g. 7680 x 1080) not supported by regular EDID can also be set.
  • Bugfix:
  • Fixed a bug that caused the input signal not to be recognized on a DisplayPort input after restarting the matrix.
  • Fixed a bug that resulted in signal flashing on the DisplayPort outputs.
  • Fixed a bug that resulted in the matrix not being accessible through ssh or through the embedded web.
  • Improved the reliability of the video port processors.
  • Improved on the error resilience of the DP output boards.
  • Known issue:
  • Conversion to 422 does not work if the bit depth of the input video signal is equal to or greater than 10 bits/component.
  • The channel status information in the output HDMI stream erroneously reports 5 channel PCM when embedding audio through the analog audio input on the input side of the matrix.
  • The device label is not reset to its factory default value when the matrix is factory reset.
  • Downgrading from package version v1.7.0 might render the matrix inaccessible through LDC.
  • The DP output erroneously reports a frame rate of 30Hz for input signals having a frame rate of 60Hz and a sampling pattern of 4:2:0. Moreover, the color space information is missing for such input signals.
  • The EDID extension block that contains the DisplayID information is not exported when a dat format is selected for export. To circumvent the problem, use the bin format.
  • The incoming video is converted to DVI and any audio content is removed on the HDMI or DP input, if an EDID with DisplayID extension is selected for emulation to the connected video source.
  • When an EDID with DisplayID extension is emulated to the HDMI output by the connected sink, the output video signal is converted to DVI and any audio content is removed.
  • v1.6.2b1
    Release date: 2020-05-20
    Bugfix:

  • Improved on the reliability of device upgrade.
  • Known issue:
  • Swing and pre-emphasis values might not be rendered correctly on the graphical user interface.
  • If the DisplayPort input stream has no embedded audio and it is routed to a DisplayPort output, video signal stability issues (blinking) may arise on the output. Furthermore, when embedding audio in such streams on the input, video signal instability may also be accompanied with audio popping on the output. The issue can be eliminated by repeating link training on the input.
  • The USB interface will not work when an USB cable is connected to the USB port on a matrix variant with 32 or more input and output ports during booting.
  • The support for some audio formats might get removed from the EDID read on DisplayPort outputs.
  • Color space information on the graphical user interface might not be accurate for the DP outputs.
  • DisplayPort related forced settings (e.g. DpForcedMode) on the output DisplayPort board are preserved after restoring the matrix to factory defaults.
  • The signal on a DisplayPort input might not get recognized (and consequently, not routed to the selected output) after the matrix is restarted. Triggering a new link training on the input resolves the problem.
